Hairforce Dietary Supplement for Hair Loss and Stress Related Hair Loss in Women

The Hairforce supplement is specially developed to support hair health and reduce hair loss caused by stress. Hairforce helps the hair from several different directions at the same time, including supplying minerals and vitamins that a stressful lifestyle usually leads to a lack of. Stress is actually complex, it triggers many reactions in the body in parallel that affect us negatively in many ways, which of course is also noticeable on our appearance.

You could say that in a period of stress, the body prioritizes the hair down, to focus on survival. Nutrition and energy are used where they are most urgently needed, in the short term, for our survival. Under prolonged stress, these mechanisms affect us in many ways that lead to a deterioration in hair quality.

Hair loss and stress – Why do we lose our hair under stress?

Stress and hair problems are probably the most common things we hair health professionals hear about. Actually, other consequences of stress belong here, like hormonal imbalances and nutritional deficiencies. We think of this as a whole, ‘holistically’:

It’s a very common problem, especially for women! We hear it every day from hairdressers. Typically, a woman in her career, perhaps with young children, in her 40s or 50s, notices that her hair is thinning, that she is losing more than usual, and often that the quality of the hair is poorer – the ends split more easily, it has become ‘frizzy’ and doesn’t have the same volume. The woman may feel powerless and depressed about this. But there are remedies, more on that later!

Stress-related hair loss naturally affects men too! But since men are more often affected by male pattern hair loss, it may not be as common to perceive it as stress-related. We at Hildeståhl are convinced that many male hair problems also stem, in whole or more often in part, from the same problem.

Temporary stress, such as a traumatic event, the death of a loved one, also negatively affects hair. But long-term stress has a more serious negative impact on our appearance.

So what causes hair loss? We believe that it does not have to be a particularly traumatic event, most women who suffer from this live ordinary lives, with fast-paced and psychological stress, challenges in life simply.

– Fast-paced and stressful lifestyle.
– childbirth
– Serious infections.
– Psychological stress
– Thyroid problems
– Gastrointestinal problems (digestion, IBS, etc.)
– Certain medications (we often hear of clients suffering from hair loss after using statins, vaccines and certain other drugs).

Stress, whether emotional or physical, increases the production of cortisol, commonly known as the stress hormone. Elevated cortisol levels disrupt the hair growth cycle.

Mice got perfect fur when they couldn’t produce stress hormones

A team led by Dr. Ya-Chieh Hsu at Harvard University studied the mechanisms behind stress and hair loss. The results were published in Nature, March 4, 2021. The study was conducted on mice. It was found that removing the stress hormones completely (by removing the adrenal glands) led to rapid cycles of regrowth and regeneration that did not slow down with age – the mice continued to have a youthful coat throughout their lives. However, subjecting mice to mild stress for several weeks increased stress hormone levels and reduced hair growth. The hair follicles remained in an extended resting phase. The role of stress hormones in inhibiting hair regrowth was demonstrated.

Stress and hair loss in women – How is female hair affected by lifestyle factors?

Hair loss and deterioration of hair quality affects women of all ages, who may experience thinning of the hair over the entire scalp or in patches. In our clients, general thinning is more common. It is also common to feel that you have poorer hair quality and not the same volume as before. We also often hear that treatments do not “bite” as well, such as perms and coloring.

We are talking here about the type of hair loss known in medical terms as telogen effluvium. There is also alopecia areata, where the body’s immune system attacks the hair follicles, often after severe stress or a traumatic event. It is less common and often results in patchy hair loss. We mean telogen affluvium here when we talk about hair loss.

Symptoms of ‘common’ hair loss (telogen effluvium) include:

– Increased hair loss, which you may notice in your hairbrush, in the shower drain or on your pillow.
– Thinning hair on the scalp.
– Dry hairs that fall out easily.
– Feeling of less volume
– Hair that does not grow long, breaks off and ends split more easily
– Treatments not working as well as before

Often you have a normal scalp with this type of hair loss (no sudden itching, rashes, flaking, etc.), but this may not always be the case.

It may be useful to know that hair grows in cycles. Your hair goes through three stages of growth:
Anagen (growth): The most active stage in the hair growth cycle. The cells in the lower part of a hair follicle divide rapidly. Once new hair has formed, it pushes the hair out of the follicle and lengthens the hair shaft. A hair follicle can grow in the anagen stage for up to four years. Around 80-90% of hair follicles are in the anagen stage all the time.
Catagen (resting): Is a transitional stage in the hair growth cycle. The lower part of the hair follicle retreats and hair stops growing. About 5% of all hairs are in the catagen stage at any given time.
Telogen (hair loss): Is the resting stage of the hair growth cycle. The hair follicle is inactive. A clump of keratima holds the hair in the follicle until it sheds, causing the hair growth cycle to start again. About 5% of all hairs are in the telogen stage at any given time.

Normal hair loss (telogen effluvium) affects your hair when it is in the telogen stage. During stress or severe changes in the body, up to 70% of hair in the anagen phase enters the telogen phase prematurely, resulting in fewer visible hairs.

We know that hair follicles that are “stuck” in their telogen phase can be revived. The dietary supplement Hairforce has this effect, among others.

How can I reduce the risk of or reverse hair loss?

There are ways to keep hair healthy and promote hair growth, including by

Eat enough protein, especially if you are vegetarian or vegan. A varied and balanced diet, with high quality ingredients. Don’t skimp on quality. Collagen is important, either through your food or as a supplement.
Food supplements. Certain vitamins and minerals, including vitamin MSM, silicon, B vitamins, C, D, E, zinc, biotin and iron, are essential for healthy hair, skin and all connective tissues in the body.
Find ways to manage stress. Stress is one of the main causes of hair loss. Easier said than done and too big an area to go into here!
Get enough sleep. Most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep per night. The benefits of a good night’s sleep include reduced stress.
Avoid extreme diets. Rapid weight loss can trigger telogen effluvium. Restrictive diets can lead to nutritional deficiencies. If you need to lose weight, it is a good idea to exercise regularly and follow a balanced diet, such as a Mediterranean diet that focuses on fresh fruits and vegetables, slow carbohydrates, high quality protein and healthy fats.

At Hildeståhl, we believe that stress and nutrition are the two most important factors in hair loss. Stress is up to you to manage, not as easy as it sounds!

We once met a Swedish opera singer who was also a yogi, he had lived in India for a while and learned yoga. Now retired, he meditated and practiced yoga every day. One thing that was striking about this eccentric opera singer was that he had a lot of hair on his head, and it was still its original dark brown color, he didn’t dye it, even though he was a 70+ man. We think it’s because of his ability to cope with stress.

Nutrition, the second factor in hair loss, is fairly easy to address. Hairforce is specially developed for this.

How Hairforce Supports Hair Health and Counteracts Stress Hair Loss

It is common for people to eat less when they are stressed, when they should really be putting extra effort into their nutrition, it is the other way around. At the same time, the high pace of life places special demands on our nutrition.
Hairforce is formulated to compensate and balance for typical such deficiencies. You could say that Hairforce is a kind of ‘stress multivitamin’.

Hairforce contains a complete B-complex, including choline and inositol. B-complex is a classic ‘stress food supplement’, which has been sold in health food stores for a long time. It is important that the doses are sufficient and that it contains the full complex. B vitamins are important for the thyroid and the entire hormonal system.

Under stress, we ‘flush out’ minerals and electrolytes, such as magnesium and zinc. Hairforce contains magnesium, zinc, selenium, manganese and iodine .
Zinc is also extremely important for the hormonal system. Iodine is important for the thyroid gland.

Hairforce also contains high amounts of organic sulphur (MSM), also known as the beauty mineral. And natural silicon from bamboo shoots. Both are raw materials for the body to create new hairs and skin cells. MSM is also needed for other processes in the body, such as in the liver and gastrointestinal system. If your diet contains too little MSM, there is a risk that the body will prioritize the deficient amount to other places where it is urgently needed, such as the liver, rather than to hair and skin.

Another possible cause of hair loss or thinning as a result of stress is – inflammation. Elevated cortisol levels can lead to chronic inflammation, which can damage hair follicles and prevent healthy hair growth. We know that hair loss is often accompanied by inflammation in the scalp and around the hair roots. Hairforce has a mild anti-inflammatory effect through the herbs Rosemary and Salvia Sclarea.

Hairforce also provides raw material for new hair and skin, supports detoxification systems, adds antioxidants and improves microcirculation in the scalp and skin.
